Last week two of our colleagues participated in conferences on nuclear energy and ultrasound inspection which took place in Croatia. Our colleague Željko Rapljenović participated in the 31st International Conference Nuclear Energy for New Europe which took place in Portorož, Slovenia from September 12th to 15th. He contributed to the workshop with a paper on automated defect detection using ultrasound probes as a method of non-destructive testing. In cooperation with colleagues from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, INETEC developed models for automated defect recognition using contemporary principles of artificial intelligence. Since artificial intelligence models YOLO and SSD enable faster, affordable and more efficient defect detection, they have brought INETEC at the forefront of contemporary ultrasound testing technology.
Our colleague Marko Budimir participated in SEA Workshop on sensors, electronics and emerging applications which took place in Zadar, Croatia form September 12th to 14th. He contributed to the workshop with his lecture titled "Advancements in ultrasound inspection of nuclear power plants using robust transducers and deep learning".
