We are happy to announce that we have been awarded an EU grant to further enhance our robotic non-destructive testing with radiation-hardened electronics in collaboration with Magics Technologies. The Magic Lancer_II project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme within the framework of the cascade funding offered by RIMA – Robotics for Inspection and Maintenance Project funded under grant agreement No[824990].
Development and implementation of the radiation-hardened electronics in our robotics assortment will largely increase the reliability of our systems and enlarge the scope of NDT inspections in the nuclear industry.
Reliability will be tested and validated through series of irradiations done by independent institutes on the test setup developed by INETEC. The test setup is conceived as a conceptual representation of an INETEC developed manipulator equipped with radiation-hardened application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) designed by Belgium-based company Magics Technologies.
Project partner company MAGICS Technologies provides solutions for intelligent sensing and custom IC design for extreme environments such as space and nuclear. It is a spin-off company from KU Leuven (Europe’s most innovative university ranked by Reuters) and SCK•CEN (the largest research institute in Belgium for nuclear technologies, nuclear medicine, and astronautics).
