Forerunner manipulator facts #3

Published: 23.09.2020.

FORERUNNER is INETEC’s robot used to inspect vertical steam generators such as those found in Western (PWR) type power plants. There are about 5,000 – 6,000 thousand pipes in them - each one needs to be examined. The walls of the pipes are 1.0 to 1.5 mm thick and any crack on them will cause a leak of radioactive material located in the primary circuit. The device is fully automated and the operator only plans which pipes should be inspected. Everything else is done by the robot, taking care to avoid pipes that are plugged and not to damage the edge of the steam generator or avoid collision with the other FORERUNNER robot within the same steam generator. By using our FORERUNNER, your inspection is performed quickly and efficiently.
